Dr Kay through his company RK Statistics takes part in three main commercial activities:
- Running training courses and workshops in statistics to statisticians and non-statisticians
- Acts as the Independent Statistician on Data Monitoring Committees (DMCs) and Data and Safety Monitoring Boards (DSMBs)
- Statistical consultancy on the design and analysis of clinical studies and in support of regulatory submissions and interactions

DMCs, DSMBs & Steering Committees
Dr Kay sits on various DMCs/DSMBs associated with phase I, phase II and phase III clinical trials in a variety of therapeutic areas. Currently these areas include Oncology, MS, Urology, COPD, Diabetes and HIV. He also sits on two Steering Committees for major trial programmes, one in the area of oncology and one in Ophthalmology
Statistical Consultancy
Dr Kay acts as a consultant for numerous pharmaceutical companies, in relation to study design and the analysis of data, statistical methodology in general and at a strategic level in support of their regulatory submissions. From time to time he meets with the EMA and the FDA in conjunction with clients.
